What is a podcast?

A podcast is a convenient way to access an audio (or other type of media) program. Unlike a conventional broadcast, podcasts are available when you want them, not at a scheduled time.

The term "podcast" comes from the capability of loading these programs to a portable media player (such as an iPod) and listening to it wherever, whenever you want.

Do I need special software to listen to podcasts?

No, but it helps. Most computers have the software necessary to listen to the programs, but there are benefits to using dedicated podcast software:

  • ability to select podcasts from a list, which may be easier than having to locate it on a website.
  • ability to subscribe to podcasts, so you are notified whenever new content is available.
  • ability to manage all your podcasts in a single place.

Can I link to Home & Family Finance Radio Podcasts from my site?

Home & Family Finance Radio

Yes. The easiest option is to create a standard HTML link to: http://www.radioamerica.org/POD_hff.htm. We recommed you use the program name "Home & Family Finance Radio" in the link text, or use one of the the logos at right or above as a button.

You may resize either logo as long as the type remains legible. You may not alter the logos in any other fashion.

Can I integrate the Podcasts into my site?

Yes. The same mechanism that allows you to subscribe to a podcast (RSS) can be used to integrate a live listing of program content. Many content management systems offer the ability to embed RSS feeds to provide dynamic content.

The RSS feed for Home & Family Finance Radio is available at: http://feeds.radioamerica.org/rd-bin/rdfeed.xml?HFF.

RSS feeds are protected by U.S. and international copyright laws, and this feed’s contents rights are owned by the Credit Union National Association.

  • You do not modify or delete or insert any content;
  • You not redistribute the RSS feeds to others;
  • You do not post audio files or text stories other than as included in the RSS feed;
  • You make clear that using and displaying content does not indicate endorsement by CUNA of any information, websites, products or services, or ideas and causes of any third parties.
