CUNA Advocacy Training

CUNA Advocacy Training CUNA is now offering a media training seminar designed to help credit unions and credit union executives successfully communicate the messages of our movement using media opportunities. This training is for credit union and league employees responsible for involved in furthering the public policy agenda of credit unions. This one day hands-on course will cover how to effectively deliver the credit union message to both the media and lawmakers.

This training seminar is designed to:

  • Teach participants how to effectively communicate to targeted audiences;
  • Provide a framework and context for dealing with the media;
  • Take participants through both friendly and hostile interview situations inclusive of hands-on participation;
  • Sharing the credit union message platform so that participants are equipped with the right message for any type of media encounter;
  • Helping to develop strategies for getting the attention of media outlets so that vital messages can be shared about the credit union movement; and,
  • Discovering how credit union advocates can use CUNA as a resource to be both proactive and reactive to the media.

This program will assist in making credit union advocates both prepared and comfortable when dealing with the media.

Credit union advocates will gain insight into what works and what does not with media outlets, as well as information on the issues that the credit union movement faces daily. Participants will also learn credit union research based messages and participate in role-playing exercises gaining hands- on experience when participating in media interviews.
